Watermelon Syrup Base
  • 4 cups seedless watermelon, cubed Use ripe watermelon for best flavor.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar Adjust sweetness to taste.
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice Adds brightness to the syrup.

Method
 

Making the Syrup
  1. Blend the cubed watermelon in a blender until smooth.
  2. Strain the watermelon puree through a fine mesh strainer into a saucepan to remove pulp.
  3. Add the sugar and lemon juice to the watermelon juice in the saucepan.
  4. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved.
  5. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil and let it simmer for about 10 minutes, until slightly thickened.
  6. Remove from heat and let cool before transferring to a bottle or jar for storage.
