Method
Cooking the Pasta
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente.
- Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta in a colander.
Making the Sauce
- In the same pot, heat olive oil over medium heat.
- Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Add canned tomatoes, dried basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- If the sauce is too thick, add reserved pasta water a little at a time until desired consistency.
Combining
- Add the drained pasta to the sauce and toss to combine.
- Serve hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese.
