  • 2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder sift to avoid lumps
  • 3 cups powdered sugar adjust based on desired sweetness
  • 1/4 cup whole milk adjust based on thickness desired
  • 2 tablespoons bourbon whiskey adds warmth to frosting

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  3. Mix the dry ingredients in a large bowl: flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Cream the butter and sugar in another bowl until light and fluffy—about 3-5 minutes.
  5. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the bourbon.
